GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Payment in full (100%) is required to finalize any order and reserve a spot on our production schedule.

  • Specialty cakes are available on a first come, first serve basis.  Refer to our availability recommendations in the charts below but be sure to allow extra time during the holidays and our busy cake season (i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc. and May/June for graduations).  Keep in mind, these are suggestions and we cannot predict how many orders we will receive in any given day.  We reserve the right to stop taking orders at any time if we reach capacity.

  • ALLERGY ADVISORY - White’s Bakery is not a nut free bakery. We try our very best to accommodate customers with special allergy concerns and make sure our equipment, utensils and work space have been properly sanitized – however, we use nuts in many products and cannot guarantee that an item has not been in contact with small or trace amounts of nuts. Please use your best judgement when ordering. 

  • GLUTEN FREE ADVISORY - White’s Bakery is not a gluten free facility, however we do offer a few products that are GF. If you are looking for a GF birthday or special occasion cake, we make a GF vanilla or chocolate cake that can be decorated (cupcakes also available by special order). Please use your best judgement – again, we are not a GF bakery and some of these products may come in contact with other items that contain gluten. Gluten free cakes need advance notice and are subject to availability.

  • CREATIVE FREEDOM POLICY: Our team of cake decorators, pastry chefs and other team members are talented! Please allow them CREATIVE FREEDOM to make/decorate your order as they see fit. As the customer, you may suggest themes, color palettes/tones, and other general decorations, however – EXTREMELY SPECIFIC needs such as (but not limited to) exact positioning/placement of decorations and colors, writing font and other items may not be requested. Please keep in mind exact replications are not possible, as each decorator has their own styles and techniques. When you place an order with White’s, you automatically grant us creative freedom.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We receive a very large amount of requests for special orders every week and we are only able to accept a certain amount. When you cancel an order with enough notice, we are able to accommodate another customer’s request. When a last minute cancellation is made, we are not able to make up for the lost sale, thus the reason for a cancellation fee. In order to maintain a manageable work load and maintain the quality of our work, we must enforce this policy.  We appreciate your understanding!

 

Significant alterations to flavors, decorations or cancellation of an existing order must be made VERBALLY and TIMELY. 

 

If any part of our cancellation policy is unclear, please ask for clarification prior to placing an order.

 

If you cancel with:

  • More than 7 days’ notice*: Orders cancelled with a FULL WEEKS NOTICE will be compensated with a full refund.

  • 2 - 7 days’ notice*: Orders cancelled WITHIN a week to TWO DAYS of pickup date will be compensated with a merchandise credit for paid amount. Refunds will not be issued.

  • Less than 2 days’ notice*: Orders cancelled or significantly changed on short notice (TWO or less days prior to pick-up date) will be compensated by store credit minus a 30% cancellation fee.

Rescheduling your order on short notice will incur the 30% cancellation fee on the original amount, plus any difference owed (if applicable).

 

Verbal cancellation is required – please call a store and speak with someone directly to cancel.  The only exception to this is if you placed an online order, you can email orders@whitesbakeryandcafe.com to request a cancellation.  If you did not place your order online, you must cancel by phone or in person.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

Any changes (design, flavor, size, etc) must be made with at least 4 days’ notice. Change requests cannot be guaranteed and are subject to our production schedule/availability.

Please inspect your item(s) carefully before leaving the store to ensure everything is correct and you are satisfied!  

 

Any discrepancies with a product after it has left our store must be documented with a photo, or you must return the item to the store within 48 hours of pick-up.

 

Merchandise credits will not be honored without proof of discrepancy and are left up to the manager's discretion. We do not give credits unless a mistake was made on our part.

 

Mistakes DO NOT include décor details such as (but not limited to) color shades/tones, writing font, décor placement, etc. This is strictly enforced by our creative freedom policy. NO EXCEPTIONS.

CAKE DESIGNS/DECORATIONS

 

I WOULD LIKE TO MATCH A SPECIFIC COLOR TO MY CAKE – HOW CAN YOU ENSURE IT WILL BE EXACTLY WHAT I WANT?  

The only way to guarantee an exact color match is to bring us a physical swatch or sample of the color desired.  Emailing us a picture is not acceptable for exact color matching, as computer monitors and printers all vary.  Even describing a color such as coral can be tricky.  Our decorator may think of coral as an orangey-pink color, you may think it’s more pinky-orange.  Color is very subjective, so we ask that if the colors on your cake are an integral part of the design, please bring us a swatch.

DO YOU OFFER EDIBLE IMAGE SCANS/PHOTOS ON CAKES?  

Yes, we can scan almost any high quality image you provide onto edible rice paper.  Simple scans are an extra $15 per sheet of edible paper used (approx. 8.5”x10” size).  Please allow at least 48 hours notice for basic cake requests with scans.  If you are bringing us a photo to use, we ask that you do not leave original or one-of-a kind photos – please make a copy of your photo and leave the copy with us.  If you are emailing us a picture to use, please make sure it is good quality and in a file we can open (pdf, jpeg, png, word).  Keep in mind, our scanner software is not able to edit or enhance images other than simple cropping.  If you send us a picture that has a watermark on the background, or something you don’t want included – we are not able to remove it.  Your picture will appear EXACTLY as it looks when you provide it.

 

ORDER INFO

DO YOU HAVE BIRTHDAY CAKES AVAILABLE IN STORE TO PICK-UP SAME DAY?  

Yes - we offer 8” birthday style cakes in store that can be personalized with writing.  They are typically decorated with frosting flowers or balloons, or with seasonal/novelty decorations.  We also offer 6” cakes with novelty designs, or 7” tortes and cheesecakes that can also be personalized with writing.  Call ahead to ensure we haven’t sold out for the day.   

I SUBMITTED AN INQUIRY ON YOUR WEBSITE BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK YET.  WHO CAN I CONTACT FOR HELP?
You can always contact our Brockton store at 508-584-5100 to follow up on a request.  We typically respond to online requests same day, and the latest within 24-48 hours.  Emails occasionally get filtered to the spam folder, so if you haven’t heard from us in a couple days, give us a call to follow up.

DO YOU MAKE TIERED CAKES OR WEDDING CAKES?  

White's no longer makes tiered cakes or custom wedding cakes.  

DO YOU OFFER CAKE TASTINGS?  

Unfortunately, we do not take appointments for cake tastings.  The majority of our cakes are available to purchase in store or we can make up cupcakes with different flavor combinations if you place a special order.

 

CAKE CARE INSTRUCTIONS

When you pick-up your cake, please be sure to hold the box from the bottom – not the sides!  You do not want to risk ruining the sides of the cake.

 

I AM TRAVELING A LONG DISTANCE WITH MY CAKE - HOW CAN I MAKE SURE IT ARRIVES SAFELY?  

We recommend that your cake be placed on a flat, level surface such as the floor, trunk or back of an SUV. Bringing along something that can keep your box from sliding during transport is helpful.  Blankets, towels or other items tucked next to the cake box can keep it in place.  If you have to place your cake on a seat, make sure you can keep the cake level by tucking blankets or coats under the box so it does not lean.   In warmer months, make sure your vehicle is cool/air-conditioned.  Frosting, fillings, or decorations can become soft and unstable when exposed to heat and humidity.

I AM NOT SERVING MY CAKE RIGHT AWAY - WHERE SHOULD I STORE IT?  

Somewhere cool!  If you will not be serving your cake within an hour of picking it up, please keep it refrigerated.  If you do not have access or room in a refrigerator, you can store it (keep in the box) in a large cooler with ice packs, or by placing ice packs around the box.  Please keep in mind, repeatedly moving a cake from cool to warm temperatures could result in decorations becoming soft or unstable and fillings to become soft, which can create leaning or sliding of cake layers, condensation on the frosting, colors bleeding, etc.

PRODUCT/ALLERGY/DIETARY INFO

​WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR ‘TRADITIONAL’ FROSTING AND YOUR ‘FRENCH BUTTERCREAM’ FROSTING?

Our Traditional frosting is very sweet, thick and sugary – like a traditional birthday cake frosting.  Our French Buttercream frosting is lighter, not quite as sweet and smoother in texture.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR WHITE CAKE AND YELLOW CAKE?
Our White cake is a lighter and fluffier cake with a subtle vanilla flavor (a traditional wedding cake flavor), while our Yellow cake is a bit more moist, with a more discernable vanilla flavor.

We do not calculate the nutritional information for any products, but we are happy to provide a list of ingredients at your request.
